Obituary of Johnsie Cress Roberts

Mrs. Johnsie Cress Roberts, of Charlotte, died at home on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the age of 96.

Johnsie was born in Concord, NC on May 6, 1924, daughter of the late John Ross Cress and Dessa Phillips Cress.  She attended Lenoir-Rhyne College and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Roberts was very active in her church, Grace United Methodist for 65 years.  Johnsie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, the late John Ligon Roberts, Jr.

She is survived by son, Thomas Ross Roberts and his wife, Sandra of Matthews; daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Campbell of Charlotte; son Stephen Phillips Roberts and his wife, Ursula of Kamen, Germany; son, Richard Wayne Roberts of Charlotte; daughters, Robbin Creech and her husband, Kenneth of Stanfield, and Sloan Pierce and her husband, Randy of Matthews; seven grandchildren, Dessa Di Fiore, Kimberly Yow, Timothy Campbell, Amber Blackmon, Taylor Pierce, Stephen Campbell and Cameron Pierce.  Also surviving are thirteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Believers Bible Chapel, 13531 Lancaster Highway in Pineville, NC 28134, with the Reverend Rex Trogdon officiating.  The family will receive friends at 10:30am followed by a memorial service at 11am.
