Obituary of Betty Graham Gaffney

Betty Delores Graham Gaffney, 89, passed away on December 28, 2019 at Brookdale in Winston-Salem, NC.

Betty was born on December 10, 1930, in Charlotte, NC to John W. Graham and Jessie Graham.

After graduating from Thomasboro High School in 1949, she worked for Queen City Mattress, Shell Oil Company, Branum Incorporated and retired from AT&T.  She married the love of her life in 1952, Henry Eugene Gaffney who preceded her in death in 1979.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, John W. Graham and Jessie Graham and her husband, Henry Eugene Gaffney and her Brother, John W. Graham Jr. and his wife Joyce. She is survived by her only child and daughter, Cynthia Louise (Cyndy) and her husband Frank Petto; Sister, Louise Douglas and her husband Donald Douglas; Nephew, Ray Douglas and his wife, Kathie; Niece, Donna Hughes and her husband, John; Nephew, Gerry Graham and his wife Susan, Nephew John William Graham III and his wife Vivian, and Nephew, Phillip Graham and his wife Rita.

Betty was a strong, intelligent and perfectionist, who loved her daughter and enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed antiques, dancing, gardening, birds-especially bluebirds and hummingbirds, Christmas, going to the beach and shelling and all her Pomeranians  Prince, Dickey, Nicky, Chief, Chance, China, Chase, Cheyanne, Chunk and Chumley.

On Friday, January 3, 2019, a visitation will be held from 10am to 11am immediately followed at 11am by a time of remembrance at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC.  Burial will be at Forest Lawn West Cemetery following the service.
