Obituary of Christina Barry Corpening

Christina Barry Corpening, 78, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 10, 2020. Born March 11, 1942, in Kilkenny, Ireland she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Ann Wall Barry. Christina met and married the love of her life, the late Samuel Corpening, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force oversees in England. She had four children who she loved with all of her heart and quickly became a 24/7 mother. She was a devote Christian with unwavering faith.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, singing hymns and letting everyone know she was through and through Irish. Christina was known for her contagious laughter and her Irish banter that was full of wisdom and will be greatly missed.

Christina is survived by her loving children: Crayvon Corpening and his wife, Merri, Retha Corpening, Annett Corpening Zipman and her husband, Ben, and Nolan Corpening and his wife, Tyua; grandchildren: Andrew, Chenell, Natalie, Nolan, II and Miles Corpening; great grandchildren, Aiden and Sanaa; brother, Patrick Barry and his wife, Tina; nephew, Ronnie Corpening and Ann; and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Christina was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Samuel "Sam" Corpening; and her grandson, Crayvon, Jr.

Services will be private.
