Obituary of Virginia Ruth Stuhrenberg

Virginia Ruth (Grasser) Stuhrenberg, 85 years old of Charlotte, passed away on May 9, 2021.  Virginia was born in Chicago, IL on March 25, 1936 to the late Cyrill and Viola Grasser.

Virginia was a lifelong passionate teacher who was dedicated to the education of her students. She spent many years as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher with CMS, and also developed a volunteer ESL program at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.  As a devoted Catholic, Virginia spent many years volunteering at the church, including running religious education programs.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Maurice Stuhrenberg; her daughters, Susan Collins and her husband Shad, Carol Phillips and her husband Barry and Lynda Parillo and her husband Jay; her sons, Andrew Stuhrenberg and Fr. James Stuhrenberg; her sister, Barbara Grasser; her brother, Allen Grasser and her grandchildren, Amber Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Ian Jameson, Sophia Collins, Alexander Parillo and Jordan Parillo.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 4-6pm at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:30am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210.
