Obituary of Janell Brown Auten

Mrs. Auten, 83, of Charlotte, NC died May 26, 2021 at The Pines at Davidson. She was born in Kings Mountain on May 23, 1938, to Earl and Ola Brown, who preceded her in death in 1976 and 1981 respectively. She was also preceded in death by her husband Everett M. Auten in 1998. She was a member of Dilworth Baptist Church.

Survivors include step-daughter, Kay McGarity of Charlotte, step-son, Frank Auten of Clover, five step-grandchildren, sixteen step-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Martha Hilbourn of Westminster, MD, Mrs. Ruth Bryant of Colorado Springs, CO, brothers, Jimmy Brown of Omaha, NE, Earl Brown, Jr of Mount Holly, NC; four nieces and seven nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janell was predeceased by her brothers, William Brown and Calvin Brown.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 9, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Boulevard Charlotte, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
