Obituary of Gary Paul Fazenbaker

Gary Paul Fazenbaker, known to his family and close friends as Maxx, went on to his next Big Adventure the evening of Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the age of 54. Born in Washington, D.C. on June 7, 1967, he was the 2nd generation Italian son to the late Cecil Holbert “Hobie” and Mary Frances Greco Fazenbaker. He was raised from early childhood in Laplata, Maryland where he achieved his degree in Marketing and Business Management. Maxx worked as an electrician while pursuing his passion of collecting and drawing comic books and graphic novels. During COVID, Maxx found a new passion learning to become a ventriloquist. He had his best pal and buddy, Goopta Akiem Watson, a “Gercoon” – half Giraffe, half Racoon – with him all the time. Maxx is survived by his wife of 9 years, Linda Faye Fazenbaker; beloved daughter whose life he so longed to be a part of, but couldn’t, Farron Lee McCarty; step-daughter, Alec C.K. Metzger and her husband, Dillion; step-son, Colton Lee Smith; daughter-in-law, Krystal Victoria Thomas; granddaughter, Chelsea Lee King-Smith; brother, Steven H. Fazenbaker and his wife, Kathy; niece and nephew: Lucy and Reed Fazenbaker; his beloved pal, Goopta; and many more loving family and friends. Maxx said he wanted one thing from this life and that was to make people smile and be happy. He made a lasting impression on everyone he crossed paths with. Gary “Maxx” you are loved and missed by us all. Until we join you on your journey, your loving family. P.S. Goopta says “In Coming, In Coming”.
