Obituary of Jimmie Irene Patton

Jimmie Rucker Patton, 85, of Matthews, NC, passed away October 9, 2022. Born April 7, 1937 in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late R. James Rucker and Panthea Elliott.

Jimmie is survived by her son, Steve Patton; daughter, Sally Patton Collins; and grandchildren, Justin Collins, and Sophie Collins.

Jimmie graduated from The University of North Carolina, with a bachelor's degree in education. She spent her life as a teacher, and remained as an active alumni with UNC. She had an amazing passion for UNC Tarheel basketball. Jimmie loved the beach, house flowers and plants, and her Westie dog named Snowball. In the later parts of life, Jimmie enjoyed friends in her women's group, her charity league, and the bridge club. She truly enjoyed the 4th of July Holiday festivities.

In addition to her parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by her husband; James Douglas Patton; and her sister, Joyce Ruark.

There will be a service at Sardis Presbyterian Church in the chapel on October 12, 2022, at 1:30 pm. The address is 6100 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270.
