Obituary of Rosmarie Geraldine Hollenbach

Rosmarie Geraldine Hollenbach was born on September 25, 1929 and recently passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, the Lord’s Day in Hospice House at Southminster. The family truly appreciated the tender and expert care the nurses and caregivers at Southminster administered to Rose in her final days. Rose is survived, loved and remembered by her 7 children, 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Rose was born and raised in Milwaukee WI and went on to receive her BS in Nursing from the Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She joined and served in the Army following her graduation as a nurse during the Korean War and was stationed at Tripler Hospital on Oahu, HI, where she met her future husband and father of seven children, William A. Hollenbach, Jr. Mom was an avid bowler for over six decades and carried a respectable average. She also enjoyed gardening and growing roses. She was known for her tasty tomatoes and beautiful roses. Her one weakness was her gambling addiction - bingo. Mom enjoyed her weekly Monday night bingo. She definitely lost more than she over won but was never upset since she was supporting her church. Mom also loved animals and had a dog as soon as she left the army and settled down with Dad. The first dog my parents got was a Doberman pincher that protected the motel my parents ran. Dad was never partial to animals but we always had them growing up. For many years we had 2 dogs and a cat. Mom had Ruger and Riley up until her death. Her influence, guidance and loving care reached well beyond her immediate family. God and church were always very important to her. Her faith and belief in God made her feel secure and confident in life up until her dying day. At the end Mom was not afraid to die. She will be remembered by her remaining few friends, her family and all those whose lives she influenced. A church service will be held on Friday, December 2nd at 11 am at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church for family and those who wish to pay their respects, followed by a post service memorial gathering at Cameron Wood Swim & Racquet Club from 4 pm – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster, 8919 Park Road, Suite 1000, Charlotte, NC 28210 https://www.nhpco.org/providers/levine-dickson-hospice-house-southminster/.
