Obituary of C. Fletcher Horn

C. Fletcher Horn passed away February 22, 2016 at age 99. Fletcher was predeceased by his first wife, Jessie H. Horn; sister, Rachel Horn; and brother, James Horn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Sara W. Horn, who gave him joy, laughter and love. He is also survived by his daughter, Judith H. Rummo (Nicholas); son, James F. Horn (Lynn); grandchildren, Carla Rummo (Paul Williams), Emily Rummo (LeRoy Eakin IV), Sarah A. Horn, and Charles F. Horn; great grandchildren, Clea, Ben, Rowan, and James. He was born in Lanett Alabama in 1916 to C. Parker Horn and Annie Mae Dunn. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Chemical textile engineering. He had a 35 year career with Celanese Corporation, with assignments in Cumberland, MD, Charlotte, NC and Corporate Headquarters in New York City. He returned to Charlotte to retire after holding several executive positions with Celanese. He served as a Captain in the U.S. army during World War II subsequently reaching the rank of Major and was awarded the Silver Star. A man of quiet determination he devoted his life to his family, work, and his country. There will be no local service. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children was his request. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Stewart Health Center, Cypress of Charlotte and Hospice of Charlotte.
